Holiday Photos and Men

This is from Jason’s blog at www.VirgHair.com, one of the top hair replacement companies in the nation.

I know I’m a little late in getting this up, but I made it through the Holidays. The same can’t be said of previous years unfortunately. At least as far as those classic Thanksgiving and Christmas photos are concerned. Here’s the way it usually went: The family finally gets settled around the table. There are only a few last minute items to be brought out like the green beans and rolls. I sit at the table praying silently to the god of turkey and ham that we can just begin without a picture…but alas, my mother-in-law gives the sign and I reluctantly get the camera set up for the usual 10 second delay timed shot. I quickly run back to my seat as the camera beeps and try to hide as much of my head behind the person in front of me as possible. I mean, you guys know what I’m talking about right? You’ve been there. You get the photo from your mother-in-law and you’re like “OHHH YAAA, goood picture” and you want to light it on fire instantly. Well, this holiday season, I had the camera already set up and waiting on the rest of the fam. Instead of my head being the bright shining star lighting the way for the wisemen to come from afar, it was this beautiful head of hair. My mother-in-law didn’t even have to ask for a second shot. I had that puppy set up on multi-shot superstar mode.

Thanks Jason and Virg, I couldn’t have said it better myself. And thank you Transitions International for getting together the top hair replacement pros in the country.

Great Testimonials from Women With Hair Loss

I am so happy to be in this business. It actually helps people with a lot of things in their life. Women tell me all the time that their hair loss is devastating to them. They think about it constantly. They hate to look in the mirror and at times avoid doing so. They jump out-of-the-way when pictures are taken and spend lots of time trying to move their hair around to cover up the fact that they are thinning. Lots of women do a great job with this. They tell me that their hair is their crowning glory. This hair loss can lead to depression in women and affect their relationships. That is why it is so great to hear what women say when they finally have more hair.

Just last week, I had two women tell me things that made me feel really good because they felt great. One lady who had been dealing with her hair loss for years, said and I am paraphrasing,’ I woke up in the morning, realized I had hair again, and started to cry. It felt so good.’ Another women said that for the last year, she had avoided going out, made excuses to not see people and stopped living her life. She now tells me that she has her life back again and feels like living. Wow, those two women say it all.  They love having hair and what is wrong with that?

Hat are Cool But I Think Hair Is Better!!!

Hats are cool right? I mean…I used to wear them all the time. When I was in high school, I liked hats. I wore golf hats, Dodger hats, Charger hats. Then, after high school, my hair became more of who I was and I started using the pomades, waxes and gels. My time in front of the mirror had increased due to needed perfection of the hair. Between my best friend and I, it almost became a challenge to find the best hair product. One that wasn’t too sticky or waxy, but that held the hair in the exact desired location. I mean, you guys know what I’m talking about right?! Guys? Okay, so maybe we went a little overboard, but point is, my hair was a big part of the way I looked and who I was. Then…a few years passed…and my buddy and I slowly began to part ways in the hair department. You see…he always had a really awesome head of hair and when mine started to thin…and his awesomeness remained intact, well, I was quite envious although he never knew it.
By the time I was out of college, hats were once again becoming a more common occurrence. It was a slow process, but as things got increasingly thinner up top, hats were around more and more often. My friends here in California for lots of years hardly knew me without a hat on when we were hanging out. And even at night, if I was just running to the gas station or through a drive-through for some dinner…I had a hat on. It was the only way I felt comfortable…and my age! It was not something I was that conscious of. But my hat collection was growing. I even found myself avoiding certain events an situations because it was not proper to wear a hat. I tried not to think about it.
Then one day, I saw a friend of mine who I saw almost every week. Something was different about him. I couldn’t put my finger on it. He was a close friend so I asked him. He looked at me and said. “It is my hair”. Then I realized his hair looked better. Heck, he had more. I was really impressed. That is when I made the decision to go to Dermatex in San Diego and the rest is history!
